My Neighbors' Referrals (MNR) is growing, and you can sign your neighborhood up for free. As a moderator, you will be responsible for adding new neighbors, removing neighbors who move away from your neighborhood, and monitoring referrals written by your neighbors. We supply the simple tools you'll need, all are web based, and you will need to spend almost no time each month in moderator related activities.

MNR History

Our neighborhood in Chapel Hill NC has an email list that we all use to plan block parties, announce local events, etc. We found that a large number of emails were sent asking for advice on contractors (pest control, foundation repair, electricians, etc.). MNR grew out of our desire to compile our neighbors' recommendations and referrals. We don't allow negative referrals, nor do we allow paid advertisements. The basic idea is that you will know the person recommending a plumber - you won't be relying on paid advertisements, or web sites that purport to be review sites but are actually shilling for the contractors. That's the whole idea, in a nutshell.

Privacy

We do have a privacy policy (click the link below). To summarize it, though, we never contact your neighbors for any reason other than if they forget their password, or if one of their referrals is considered "inappropriate". We don't divulge your information, nor your neighbors' information to anyone (unless required by law). We do our best to keep non-neighbors from joining your neighborhood. Your neighbors' contact information will only be visible to fellow neighbors. As moderator, your contact information will be protected as well. MNR forwards requests to join your neighborhood to you, without revealing your contact information to the requester.
